SUPER Stop!A Family-Based Program to Prevent Alcohol and Other Drug-Related Violence

SUPER Stop! is a Three Module Program for 11 to 18 year olds who have or are at risk for having problems related to conflict and violence and their parents or guardians. Populations to be served may come from middle and high schools, alternative schools, juvenile courts, youth-serving community-based agencies, churches and other entities.

SUPER Stop! is available in two versions: Basic Version, for all ethnic groups; and Afrocentric Version mainly for African American families.

The correlation between teenage alcohol and other drug use, conflict and violence is well-documented. SUPER Stop! focuses on conflict resolution and violence prevention, and the strong connection between alcohol, other drugs and violence.

SUPER Stop! also deals with alcohol and other drug prevention per se, mainly by looking at the risk and protective factors associated with alcohol and other drug use.

Each of the three SUPER Stop! Modules may be presented independently of the other two. However, the program is most effective when all three modules are presented together. As the three modules are composed of five sessions, all three modules can be presented in five evenings, with each session being two hours long.
